WHO WE ARE...
Since the start of the club, the team has volunteered with Track Shack, assisting with 5k events. They have also given back to the community by giving away Thanksgiving baskets for the past three years. The team continues to seek out opportunities to get involved with the community.
S.I.P Coach Deke
Former Head Coach
Coach Deke was a Deland native and had been coaching youth track and field since 2003. He started The Deland Lightning Bolts Track Club in 2012. Coach Deke has had athletes compete in the AAU National Championship every year since starting the track club.
Coach DJ is the new head coach of the Deland Lightning Boltz and son of the late head coach, Deke Harris, Sr. He was born and raised in Deland, Fl and graduated from Deland High School. The physical track is my classroom, I am very serious and passionate about teaching Track and Field. I don't demand but expect the student-athlete to have the same attitude. My goal is to develop each and every athlete to their fullest potential and in the simplest and most realistic way possible. I believe everyone deserves the right to become great and be the best in something and to be happy with themselves inside and out. Getting fit, fast, strong, healthy and being discipline does not have to be difficult, but often times it is. The athlete should want to be the best they can be and together we strive to reach that task. But if you believe in our coaching staff I promise you a great and successful year! As I say it loud so heavens can hear me
